CIE warns of impact of alcohol advert ban

Ban could affect 88 per cent of urban advertising spots in major cities

Cash-strapped CIE has warned the government that it will lose over €1.3 million per year in revenue if the rules around alcohol advertising are changed.

The company has told the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport that it expects to see advertising revenues dip by around €1.3 million a year based on the rule changes, which specifically target public transport.
