Irish racegoers spent more than €22 million at Cheltenham last year, new research shows

New research, carried out by the University of Gloucestershire on behalf of Cheltenham Racecourse, studied the economic impact of Irish participation in the festival, described as the Olympic Games of jump racing. It found that Irish racegoers spent more than €22 million at The Cheltenham Festival last year, accounting for nearly one in three tickets sold.

Fans based in Ireland bought 57,375 tickets, or 30 per cent of the tickets sold for the annual event....
