Nominations for the post of chief economist of the European Central Bank are set to open tomorrow, with Philip Lane tipped as favourite for the role.

A meeting of finance ministers of countries that use the euro is being held tomorrow and will formally kick off the process to find a successor to the outgoing chief economist Peter Praet.
