Broadcasting Authority would probe Newstalk sale

Focus would be on ‘serious’ concerns about control of media

A sale of Newstalk would trigger a Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) probe into whether it would leave one company having an undue amount of control of the communications market.

The BAI said in response to questions from The Sunday Business Post that it has not received any approach from Communicorp, the radio group that owns Newstalk, about the sale of any of its stations. The regulator would need to give approval for any takeover...
