Brexit: What is the Great Repeal Bill?

Plan to give British law supremacy, but proposals also aim to ensure stability

The British government has published its plans for legislation aimed at giving effect to its decision to leave the EU. Known as the Great Repeal Bill, it will repeal the European Communities Act 1972, but also transfer EU law into British law on the day the country leaves the EU.

The British government says its main aim is to reflect the fact that its law, not EU law, will be supreme once Brexit comes into effect....
