Far from abandoning the tax exemption scheme for artists in the October budget, the Irish government should lift its ceiling and artists should not be forced to pay income tax on earnings from the sales of their work.

That’s according to leading Irish artist Robert Ballagh, who has hit out at the growing controversy over the scheme, which is being reviewed by the Department of Finance ahead of the upcoming budget.
