Analysis: Fine Gael looks to the ‘Republic of Opportunity’ in quest for votes

The party held its ard fheis online and while it is managing to hold on to its pandemic popularity, it is seeking a few new big ideas to help it win a fourth term in government. Fine Gael members look forward to going to their traditional ard fheis, catching up with old friends and getting a quiet word with a minister or two.

But due to the continued pandemic restrictions, the most the party managed last week was to urge members to have a mini-gathering in their homes as they watched the online sessions of the 2021 Fine Gael Ard Fheis.
