An Post’s licence fee collection cost too high -RTÉ

Of the €214 million collected in 2015, 84 per cent went directly to RTÉ

4th December, 2016
RTE’s chief financial officer Breda O’Keeffe raised the issue of An Post’s fees in a meeting with Ger Butler

RTÉ has repeatedly raised concerns with the Department of Communications about the fees paid to An Post for licence fee collection over the past three years.

An Post collects the TV licence fee which is then distributed by the department. Of the €214 million collected in 2015, €178.9 million (84 per cent) went directly to RTÉ.

That year, for every €160 TV licence fee collection, An Post was paid €9.54.
