Aldi says rivals gain from restrictive opening hours

Aldi has argued that restrictive opening hours and delivery times imposed on its supermarkets is giving rivals a competitive advantage.

The German retailer has faced roadblocks this year as it attempted to extend opening hours of supermarkets in Swords, north Dublin and Youghal, Cork.

Aldi has outlined in a submission to An Bord Pleanála that some of its other locations nationwide have also faced the same issue of “restrictive” trading hours and delivery times....
