Younger, single borrowers get more mortgage exemptions
Data shows lone applicants granted more leeway
Younger, lower income borrowers are more likely to be granted an exemption to the Central Bank’s strict loan-to-income mortgage rules.
Data collected by the Central Bank as part of its ongoing review of its strict mortgage regulations also showed that single borrowers made up a higher than average share of those granted exemptions, according to Central Bank of Ireland deputy governor Sharon Donnery.
