Why fishy business can be lucrative

Almost 10 per cent of Ireland’s adult population fished in 2014. Some 2 per cent of all tourists also fished. This means that a total of over 450,000 anglers contributing an estimated €836 million to the Irish economy. Angling tourism related expenditure of €316 million for 2014 supported over 11,300 Irish jobs primarily in rural and peripheral locations.
