US tech firm WP Engine to create 100 jobs in Limerick

The company's new Irish centre will be its first customer service hub outside the US

US technology firm WP Engine has announced plans to open a new technical support and innovation centre inLimerick, leading to the creation of 100 jobs over the next three years.

The company, which delivers managed services for websites built on WordPress, said the new office will serve more than 50,000 brands in 69 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It is the company's first customer service hub outside the US and will also include a dedicated research and development team which will work with the company's R&D team in the US.

Jobs Minister Mary Mitchell O'Connor welcomed the announcement, noting it followed a number of otherrecent job announcements which a momentum growing for jobs in regions around Ireland.

"Ireland's growing expertise in the ICT sector and our commitment to ensuring that we can provide the requisite skills for companies like WP Engine is clear for all to see," she said.

The project is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
