Thousands of pension trustees are without a relevant management qualification

The Irish Institute of Pensions Management (IIPM) has ambitious plans to upskill thousands of lay pension trustees in a bid to improve governance in the pensions industry, and boost workers’ confidence in putting money away for retirement.

The IIPM maintains that while the pensions industry is heavily regulated, there’s no requirement for the 180,000 trustees in Ireland to hold a relevant pensions management qualification.
