Talks on the introduction of a salaried GP contract are set to begin in September, Minister for Health Simon Harris has said.

Harris said the talks would form part of wider negotiations on a new GP contract, adding that he recognised that not every GP wanted to own their own business, and that it was difficult to attract GPs to some rural posts.
