Revenue withheld clearance certs for 15,000 over property tax

More than 15,000 people had tax clearance certificates withheld in the first six months of this year over their failure to pay local property tax, new figures from the Revenue Commissioners have revealed.

A tax clearance certificate is a written confirmation from Revenue that a person’s tax affairs are in order. Not having one can, for example, restrict someone’s ability to trade.
