The NBRU union has agreed to suspend its 48-hour stoppages scheduled for tomorrow and Wednesday at Dublin Bus following exploratory talks at the Workplace Relations Commission this afternoon.

A statement from the union said the suspension was taking place so that it could engage in "intensive and comprehensive discussions" on a settlement ofthe dispute over pay.

"In agreeing to suspend our members' industrial action we are placing our trust in the WRC and its assessment, following its separate exploratory discussions with Dublin Bus, that significant progress can be achieved over the next number of days in order to find a resolution to this dispute," said NBRU general secretary Dermot O'Leary.

He said the onus was now on Dublin Bus to come to the negotiating table and go beyond a Labour Court recommendation that had been rejected by staff.
