Jobless figures at eight-year low of 7.9 per cent
Unemployment down to 172,900, drop of 24,000 on last September
The September jobless figure was 7.9 per cent, down from the revised 8.2 per cent in August and down from 9.1 per cent in September 2015.
This is an eight-year low for joblessness in Ireland, with the lowest rate since 2008
Theseasonally adjusted number of unemployed was 172,900 in September 2016, down from 180,200 when compared to August and a decrease of 24,000 on September last year
The rate was 9.2 per cent for males, down from 9.4 in August and down from 10.6 per cent in September 2015.
Women had a 6.4 per cent jobless rate, down from 6.8 per cent in August a drop from from 7.3 per cent a year ago.
The seasonally adjusted number of males unemployed in September 2016 was 109,400.
This is a decrease of 3,500 when compared to the August 2016 figure of 112,900.

The number of women unemployed was 63,500, a decrease of 3,800 when compared to August 2016.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate young people aged 15-24 was 15.9 per cent in September, a decrease from 17 per cent in August.
