Irish consumer sentiment hit a 15-year high in January as healthier household finances outweighed caution on the economy and jobs and positive domestic news offset increased global uncertainty, a new survey shows.

The KBC Bank Ireland/ESRI consumer sentiment index rose to 108.6 last month, its strongest level since February 2001, and up from a 10-year high of 103.9 in December.
