Ireland will be a net contributor to the EU budget within the next five years according to Fine Gael’s MEP for Dublin Brian Hayes.

According to Hayes, over the last 41 years of membership of the European Union membership, Ireland has received a net amount of €44 billion.

Hayes said, "Between 1973 and 2014 Ireland received around €73 billion in EU funding and contributed just over €29 billion to the EU budget.”
