‘Follow-up care needed’ for patients who go abroad

The Irish health service is legally obligated to provide follow-up care to patients who travel overseas under the cross-border healthcare directive, the Irish Patients Association has said.
Stephen McMahon, head of the Irish Patients Association, expressed concern that patients were being obstructed from asserting their right to travel and get the care they need under the European Cross-Border Healthcare Directive.
