The head of think-tank Social Justice Ireland has said government spending on infrastructure would be a far better use of resources than giving tax cuts as incentives to lure 'Brexit refugees' from the City of London to Dublin.

Dr Seán Healy was speaking as the group launched its briefing document on the policy choices facing the Government in the budget.

He said investment was crucial to addressing Ireland’s infrastructure deficits and to delivering a vibrant, productive, competitive and sustainable economy and a just society. The organisation has called on the Government to allocate €600m of the so-called fiscal space tosocial housing.
