Eddi Reader grew up the oldest of seven children in inner-city Glasgow, before moving to the Ayrshire coast. She studied childcare, but dropped out to join a band. After three decades in the industry, she is a powerful figure in British music. Possessed of “beautifully raw vocals and an unparalleled romanticism”, she is considered to be one of Scotland’s greatest national treasures.
