Figures confirm euro zone inflation is back
ECB has been hoping for slow pick-up towards target
Official figures have confirmed that inflation returned to the euro area in June, suggesting that European Central Bank stimulus measures may have been starting to filter through to the economy before Britain voted to leave the European Union.
Consumer prices rose 0.1 per cent from a year earlier, the EU statistics office Eurostat said this morning, confirming an initial estimate. This was the first increase since January.
