The state has begun a new investigation into the controversial 2015 sale of the famous Dublin department store Clerys, which led to 460 of its staff being sacked overnight.

The Sunday Business Post has learned that the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation has appointed an authorised officer to probe whether the deal broke the Protection of Employment Act 1977.
