The new framework for transatlantic data flows is to save jobs and allay privacy concerns, but many questions remain
The EU Commission is promoting the “EU-US Privacy Shield” as the solution to the recent Safe Harbour debacle, bringing legal certainty to individuals and businesses. The business and tech communities in Ireland and Europe have welcomed it, saying it will save Irish jobs and remove the threat that hangs over transatlantic trade centred on US multinationals here, as well as Irish companies who have outsourced data-related services to US corporates.
