Discounter Lidl to add 600 staff over next two years

Retailer has clinched 12 per cent of Irish grocery market

Lidl is to hire 600 new staff over the coming two years, it has announced.

The no-frills supermarket chain credits its expansionto rising sales and market share across Ireland.

The German discounter now accounts for nearly 12 per cent of grocery sales in the Irish republic, it says.

Recruitment has already begun for roles in store operations, warehousing and distribution as well as head office and regional office positions.

Maeve McCleane, human resources director at Lidl’s Irish operation, said the chain is going from strength to strength.
