The Department of Health is carrying out a legal and financial assessment of the cost implications of giving people a statutory right to home care in lieu of a nursing home bed.
Fianna Fáil introduced a new bill in the Dáil before the summer recess that would allow for the provision of home care services to a person being offered long-term residential care. Fianna Fáil said it would seek cross-party support.
