Galway Arts Festival to bring €23.5m to local economy

After growing its box office and sponsorship revenue in recent years, the Galway International Arts Festival is expecting 2017 to be its biggest year to date.

Now in its 40th year, the festival will run from tomorrow until July 30, bringing €23.5 million to the local economy.

John Crumlish, who has been chief executive since 2003, said it saw an opportunity for growth in the years following the economic downturn.
