Building and rebuilding beauty

Interior designers put a client’s stamp on a great building – and the job of an architect is to make a space which can be remade for new generations, writes Diarmuid Kelly

Architects and interior designers stand alone among the many construction professions as the few who are capable of divining, sensing and enhancing architectural beauty in buildings and places.

The two professions have different tools and different opportunities to foster beauty, which can sometimes overlap, but should never be in conflict.
