The central bank have imposed strict mortgage lending rules

Brokers are calling for a substantial shift in the Central Bank’s strict mortgage lending rules, including allowing people who want to borrow up to €324,000 to put down just a 10 per cent deposit, rather than 20 per cent.

Current lending rules dictate that first-time buyers must have a 20 per cent deposit if borrowing any more than €220,000, with a minimum deposit of 10 per cent below that threshold.
