Motorists and law firms are gearing up for more suits

An offer of 1,000 settlement per affected car in Europe would cost VW 8.5 billion

German car manufacturer Volkswagen is close to regulatory approval for a series of low-cost fixes to 8.5 million rigged diesel vehicles in Europe.

The fixes are Volkswagen’s effort to overcome the scandal over cheating on emissions, but motorists in Ireland have already begun to pursue legal avenues against the company, following the example of their counterparts in the US.
