Job of the day: Amazon Kindle operations manager
Amazon has [just announced](http://www.businesspost.ie/#!story/Home/News/Amazon+to+create+100+technology+jobs+in+Dublin/id/19410615-5218-4fc3-3835-0a0a12545383) an extra 100 jobs in Ireland. Many of them are already up for grabs. Here is one existing open senior position in Cork.

**Job:** Amazon UK Kindle operations manager (operating from Cork).
**Salary:** not disclosed.
**What it entails:** “…leading and managing teams of four to six customer service managers and customer service associates… Solving complex customer service issues and proactively preventing negative service trends.”
**What you need:** to be a fairly skilled diplomat, by the sounds of it. You need “negotiation and influencing skills” and be “able to listen to and persuade others based on sound logic”. Others who might disagree with you, presumably. In addition, you need to be “able to step back and look at the bigger picture (helicopter view)”. Also, “the person will also be able to manage ambiguity with their sleeves rolled up, and possess a preparedness to get involved”. There’s more. The suitable candidate will “possess intellectual curiosity [and] bring insight into the team and business, especially in a multicultural and multi-location environment”. Above all, he or she will be able to “look at the difficulty and fix it. There is rarely time for a committee decision, the individual will have to be prepared to take on responsibility for his or her actions.”
