A Dublin-based garden designer has won a top award at one of Britain's most prestigious garden events.

Stephen Dennis, from Lusk, Co Dublin, won a silver-gilt medal at the Royal Horticulture Society's Tatton Park flower show in Cheshire. The show is often described as the "Chelsea of the north" and Dennis's success is the latest to raise the profile of Ireland's horticultural industry.

The "Remount" garden designed by Dennis is a contemporary garden located on the site of an old barn with a theme that blends old with new.

Dennis has recently expanded his business at home too with the opening of Wisteria, a garden shop set in a thatched cottage in the middle of the seaside town of Skerries.
